App Privacy Policy
For the Ballistics Insight apps for iOS and Android · Effective August 17, 2026
This policy covers the Ballistics Insight mobile applications published by Tiny Machines Workshop L. L. C. ("we," "us"). Our websites are covered by a separate privacy statement.
The short version: the apps have no advertising, no ad identifiers, no third-party analytics, and no crash-reporting SDKs. We collect what the app needs to sign you in, to sync your own data between your devices, and to compute accurate trajectories for where you are standing. We do not sell your data, and we do not share your shooting data with other users.
1. Information We Collect
Account information
If you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and a unique account identifier. Authentication is handled by Google Firebase Authentication, and you may sign in using Google Sign-In, in which case Google provides us your email address, name, and account identifier. We never receive your Google password.
You can use much of the app without an account. An account is what enables synchronization across devices.
Location
With your permission, the apps use your device's location to capture the coordinates of your shooting position or range. Those coordinates feed the ballistic solution — altitude and atmospheric conditions materially affect a trajectory, as do latitude-dependent Coriolis and Eötvös corrections — and let the app retrieve weather data for that position.
Location is requested only while you are using the app. We do not collect location in the background, and we do not track your movements. You may decline location access and enter position, altitude, and atmospheric values manually; the apps remain fully usable.
Content you create
The apps store the data you enter, including:
- ballistic profiles — rifle, barrel, optic, and projectile configurations;
- loads — cartridge and handload details;
- ranges you save, including any coordinates you capture or enter for them;
- shooting logs — records of sessions, conditions, and results.
If you are signed in, this content is synchronized to Google Cloud Firestore so it is available on your other devices. Ranges you add are stored for your own use in organizing your sessions; they are not published to other users.
Technical information
When the apps contact our servers, those requests carry ordinary technical information such as an IP address, app version, and device platform. We use it to operate and secure the service.
2. What We Do Not Collect
- No advertising identifiers (IDFA, AAID) and no advertising of any kind.
- No third-party analytics or behavioral tracking SDKs.
- No crash-reporting or session-replay SDKs.
- No contacts, photos, microphone, camera, health, or financial data.
- No background or continuous location.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information above only to: authenticate you; store and synchronize your content; compute ballistic solutions and retrieve weather and atmospheric data for a position you provide; operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service; and respond when you contact us. We do not use your content to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
4. Service Providers
We rely on a small number of processors:
- Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) — account identity and synchronized content storage.
- Amazon Web Services — our ballistics API and supporting infrastructure.
- Weather data providers — when you request current conditions, the coordinates for that lookup are sent to a weather service to retrieve atmospheric data for that position.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms. We disclose information otherwise only when required by law, or when reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, or the security of the service.
5. Your Choices and Rights
Location. Grant or revoke location access at any time in your device settings. Revoking it does not disable the apps.
Account deletion. You can delete your account from within the app, on the Account screen. Deleting your account removes your account record and the content synchronized to it. This is permanent and cannot be undone, so export or record anything you wish to keep first.
Access and correction. Your content is visible and editable in the app. For any request we cannot satisfy in-app, contact us at the address below.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information, including rights of access, correction, deletion, and portability. We honor these requests regardless of residency.
6. Retention
We retain your account and synchronized content for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, the associated records are deleted. Ordinary server and infrastructure logs are retained briefly for security and operational purposes. Backups are cycled on a rolling basis, so deleted data may persist in backup copies for a limited period before being overwritten.
7. Security
Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Synchronized content is scoped to your account, so other users cannot read it. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
The apps are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. A Note on Accuracy
Ballistic solutions are computed estimates that depend on the data you provide and on environmental conditions. They are not a substitute for your own judgment, verification, and safe firearm handling. You are responsible for the safe and lawful use of any firearm.
10. Changes
We may update this policy as the apps develop. The current version is always posted here with its effective date. Material changes will be noted in the app or in release notes.
