App Privacy Policy
For Superior Tactics II: Broken Orbit · Effective October 4, 2026
This policy covers Superior Tactics II: Broken Orbit, the game published by Tiny Machines Workshop L. L. C. ("we," "us"), on iPhone and iPad and in its browser edition. Our websites are covered by a separate privacy statement, the original Superior Tactics game by its own policy, and our Ballistics Insight apps by theirs.
The short version: the game has no accounts, no advertising, no ad identifiers, no third-party analytics SDKs, and no crash-reporting SDKs. It does not ask for your location, contacts, photos, camera, or microphone. The only thing it sends us is anonymous gameplay analytics — which screens you open, how your sorties go, which pack you bought, and how long the game was open. The analytics go to a server we run ourselves, are not linked to you, and can be switched off in Settings.
1. Information We Collect
Your game stays on your device
Your campaign, fleet, research, Scrip and Insight, purchases, and settings are stored on your device — in the browser edition, in your browser’s storage on your device. We hold no copy of your save and there is no account to sign in to.
Gameplay analytics
Unless you switch it off, the game sends us a summary of how it is being played. We built this because we cannot otherwise tell which operations are too hard, where people stop playing, or which supply packs are worth keeping in the Exchange. It contains:
- which screens you open — by name, for example "hub" or "exchange";
- sorties — which operation started, for example "bo_01", whether it was won, lost, or abandoned, and how long the battle ran on its own clock, without tactical pauses; for Open Water, the difficulty and the waves cleared;
- which pack you bought — the pack’s product name, for example "io.tinymachines.brokenorbit.scrip.1500", and whether it was a real App Store purchase or a test purchase. Not a price, not a receipt, not a transaction number, and nothing about how you paid;
- how long the game was in the foreground — time spent with the game actually on screen, not time it sat in the background;
- two random identifiers — an installation identifier and a new identifier for each time you open the game, described below;
- the app version, platform and store — for example "1.0", "iOS" or "web", and "App Store";
- your operating system version, device model, and language and region setting — for example "iPhone17,1" and "en_US".
It does not contain your name, your email address, your Apple or Google account, your location, your IP address as part of the record, the contents of your campaign, or anything you typed. We are measuring the game, not you.
Switching it off. Settings → Privacy → "Share analytics". Turning it off stops collection immediately, discards anything the game had queued but not yet sent, so it is not sent later, and deletes the installation identifier from your device.
The installation identifier
The first time the game starts with analytics on, it generates a random identifier and keeps it on your device. It is not your device’s identifier, not an advertising identifier, and not tied to any account. It is not shared with anyone and it is not used to recognise you anywhere else.
It lets us tell that three play sessions came from the same player rather than from three different people. Deleting and reinstalling the game creates a new one, and so does switching analytics off and on again. Because it is stored with the game’s data, a device backup restore can carry it to a new device.
Purchases
In-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple’s App Store. We never see your payment card, billing address, or account details. The game receives only a confirmation from Apple that a purchase completed, delivers the pack on your device, and reports which pack it was in the analytics above.
Technical information
When the game sends analytics, the request reaches our servers on Amazon Web Services carrying ordinary technical information, including an IP address. We do not store the IP address alongside the analytics and we do not use it to identify you; our infrastructure may record it briefly in operational logs for security and troubleshooting. The browser edition is delivered from a server we run ourselves, sets no cookies, and loads nothing from anyone else.
2. What We Do Not Collect
- No accounts, sign-in, email addresses, or names.
- No advertising identifiers (IDFA, AAID), and no advertising of any kind.
- No third-party analytics, attribution, or behavioural tracking SDKs. The gameplay analytics described above go to a server we run ourselves and are shared with nobody.
- No crash-reporting or session-replay SDKs, and no crash reports.
- No location, contacts, photos, microphone, camera, health, or financial data.
- No payment details. We never learn what you paid or how you paid it — only which pack you chose.
We do not track you across apps or websites, and the game presents no tracking permission prompt because it has nothing to ask for.
3. How We Use It
We use the gameplay analytics to see which operations are too hard or too easy, how long sorties take, where players stop, and which supply and research packs are worth offering. That is all. We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone, we do not use any of it for advertising, we do not profile you, and we do not publish it or show it to other players.
4. Service Providers
Gameplay analytics are received by a small service we run ourselves on Amazon Web Services and stored in a database we operate. They are not sent to any analytics, advertising, or customer-support product. AWS processes them on our behalf as infrastructure. We disclose information otherwise only when required by law, or when reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, or the security of the service.
5. Retention
Gameplay analytics are deleted automatically after 180 days. Because they are not tied to an account, we usually cannot tell which records are yours. Switching analytics off deletes the installation identifier on your device, after which nothing connects the remaining records to you, and they expire on the same schedule.
6. Your Choices and Rights
Gameplay analytics can be switched off in Settings → Privacy → "Share analytics". With them off, the game sends us nothing at all and is fully playable that way.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including rights of access, correction, deletion, and portability. We honour these requests regardless of residency. Contact us at the address below.
7. Security
Gameplay analytics are sent over an encrypted connection and stored on infrastructure we control, reachable only by us. The service that receives them can add records but cannot read them back. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
The game is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes
We may update this policy as the game develops. The current version is always posted here with its effective date. Material changes will be noted in release notes.
